About lovesmiths

I created lovesmiths in 2012 to document and share my experiences teaching my teenage sons how to cook, and to give myself a platform for writing about family and food.

As my kids have grown older and busier, and as the circumstances of my life have evolved, taking a major turn for the communal with living as faculty-in-residence in a Northwestern University dorm, the blog has shifted away from its focus on lessons and has opened up to encompass my ever-increasing obsession with cooking, baking, and eating for and with my ever-growing community of family, students, and friends. The blog also occasionally connects and refers to my interviews with musicians about food for Paste Food.

Most recipes are vegetarian, many are vegan, and all are by me, unless otherwise credited. All photos are by me or my awesome son, Henry Smith.
